My Skincare Routine

I started to build my skincare routine about two and a half years ago, and my growing obsession with it made me realized how critical to keep our skin healthy.

My skin is my complete frenemy, especially during my adolescent years. I hated it for being hypersensitive. My skin is prone to irritation and breakout, I suffered from pityriasis rosea, eczema and acne breakouts. Also, my skin gets tiny red patches, especially on my face whenever I consume too much junk food and when I’m under too much stress. Sigh!

My skin requires extra care because it reacts quickly to everything. I struggle to choose a product that works well on my skin.

But through my trial and error relationship with them, I’ve pretty gotten to know my skin and how to take care of it from my diet to skincare products I use to maintain healthy skin.

I noticed that from the time I began to incorporate skincare routine in my life and practice it diligently, I started to get compliments on my skin more frequently than before. My simple skincare routine is working for me at the moment, and so today I’m excited to share it with you.

 

1.  C L EA N S E :

Kojie-san soap.

(Day time)

I’m extra gentle whenever I wash my face with this soap and air dry my face after. If you are a skincare fanatic, we know soap is not a suggested product for cleansing specifically this one because a) it’s not designed to deeply cleanse and wash away dirt and impurities from our face and b) it’s found too harsh for facial skin. Perhaps it’s not the best for sensitive skin, but the most effective soap I’ve ever used for six years, it does not irritate and dry out my skin.

I’ve tried a lot of gentle cleansers even tried the oil cleansing method, but I always get skin irritation as a result. *cries* Nevertheless, I don’t stop finding better and gentler skin care products.

Ryx Skincerity Foam Cleanser.

(Bedtime)

I just recently discovered this foam cleanser (hooray!) and added it on my bedtime routine for almost three weeks now. Does it irritate my skin? Yes, only on the first two days I tried it probably because I’m on my PMS that time, but after that, I can see its good results so far. Designed for all skin types, it effectively removes dirt from my face and makes my face feel so smooth and radiant after use.

2. T O N E :

Cosrx AHA/BHA Clarifying Toner.

(Day time and Bedtime)

Previously, I had Neutrogena Alcohol-Free Toner as my daily toner, and I liked how it worked on my skin. However, after some little research, I ditched it and switched to not just to alcohol-free but also paraben-free products and with more natural ingredients. CosRx AHA/BHA Clarifying Toner gives me peace of mind given that it has safe ingredients that won’t irritate my skin. I’m on my fourth bottle now, and I use it every single day. It feels refreshing on my skin and makes my skin look clear after use.

3.  E Y E  C R E A M :

Mizon Snail Repair Eye Cream.

(Bedtime)

I’ve been using this for the last two weeks. I started to incorporate an eye cream into my skincare routine in the hopes that it could diminish my dark circles caused by stress and lack of sleep.  I’m also not getting any younger, better to prevent those wrinkles and fine lines as early as now.

4.  S E R U M  &   E S S E N C E :

Cosrx Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence.

(Bedtime)

My favorite CosRx product! It’s lightweight and has the skin-friendly ingredient that hydrates, brightens skin complexion and reduces acne scarring. In just a few weeks of using it, I noticed how it lightens my scars and adds a glow into my skin. My skin loves it so much for a year now.

A’rin 10% Absolute Renewal Serum (Mandelic Acid).

(Day time and Bedtime)

This product contains mandelic acid which is used to treat common skin problems such as pigmentation, acne, acne scars and reduce melasma.

I include this on my day and bedtime routine after the snail essence. I instantly fell in love with it when I saw how it quickly dried out my hormonal acne on the first three days I tried it. It has lightened some dark spots on my face. It also gives my skin a healthy glow.

5.  M O I S T U R I Z E :

Cetaphil Moisturizing Face & Body Lotion.

(Day time and Bedtime)

I’ve been using this for years as my face and body moisturizing lotion. It is specially formulated for sensitive and dry skin, it’s non-greasy, non-irritating and non-comedogenic. My skin is extra sensitive when it comes to moisturizer, and so I stick to what’s already tested and proven by my skin. It makes my skin soft and hydrated through the course of my day.

6.  S U N S C R E E N :

UV Perfect Bright Face Milk SPF50+.

(Day time)

I use this on my daytime skincare routine to protect my skin from the sunlight. It has an ultra-light, non-sticky milky formula with SPF 50+. I love its matte finish, it leaves my skin a little pinkish glow, because of its ultra-fine correction powder ingredient. I’ve been using this for two years now.

7.  L I P  B A L M / L I P   E X F O L I A T O R :

Sexy Pout Lip Scrub.

It’s also important to make sure that our lips are smooth, hydrated and healthy. Aside from drinking tons of water every day, I’m also using this lip scrub three to four times a week. It exfoliates my lips and makes it feel so moisturized and soft. I currently don’t have a lip balm, but I used to have the vaseline lip therapy. Luckily, I don’t suffer from chapped lips, but when I do I blame the weather and myself for not drinking enough water. Lol.

    My skin is also hypersensitive and it sucks!! 🙁
    Still, I use Kojic soap for years now since it really helps with my acne.
